Some models need the universalplate if you want to attach the binder with screws. All my binder will fit the babylock cover.

No universal plate needed.
Model 2340 – attach the binder with blue tack /”sticky stuff”
Model 3440 and 3550 – Attach direct on the machine with screws that comes with the machine
* You may need to turn the rake on the binder upside down, to make it fit properly *
Janome coverstitch
Models 900, 1000, 2000, 3000, Elna etc
*new plate* – The universal plate now also fit Janome cover.
And you can use the foot of your choice, I have to excellent foot for binding below
